Established in 1995, the Hirabai Cowasji Jehangir Medical Research Institute (HCJMRI) was founded with a
vision to advance scientific research and enhance the quality of life, particularly for children and
families. Situated within the Jehangir Hospital campus in Pune, HCJMRI functions as a sister organization to
the hospital, with a dedicated focus on improving child health and well-being.
HCJMRI is a multidisciplinary research institute recognized by the Directorate of Scientific and Industrial
Research (DSIR), Government of India. Our key areas of research and intervention include Nutrition, Growth
and Endocrine Disorders in Children, Type 1 Diabetes, Maternal and Child Health, Osteoporosis, and other
Non-Communicable Diseases.
As part of our commitment to social impact, HCJMRI offers extensive support to children and families
affected by Type 1 Diabetes. This includes free access to insulin, blood glucose monitoring strips, and
glucometers, along with comprehensive diabetes education and continuous medical care. Our team also conducts
regular home and school visits to ensure families receive consistent guidance and assistance.
Over the years, HCJMRI has emerged as a trusted leader in pediatric diabetes care, working to empower
families and improve long-term health outcomes. Our research and clinical initiatives are led by a team of
skilled professionals who remain responsive to the evolving healthcare needs of our community.
Our efforts are made possible through the generous support of donors and partner organizations. Under the
guidance of our governing body and executive leadership, HCJMRI continues to make a lasting difference in
the lives of the children and families we serve.
